Sixteen Other Countries Gave Women
the Right to Vote Before America Did

New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Russia, Poland, England, Ireland, Hungary, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, and Czechoslovakia all gave women voting rights before the American males would finally give it to American women in 1921. Most American males fought the idea tooth and nail for almost 75 years. Women were arrested, jailed, isolated in solitary confinement, force-fed, and even blinded during peaceful marches by rock-throwing males. After women obtained the vote in all of America, various states tried to limit those rights by literacy requirements, poll taxes and intimidation. Even today there are attempts to prove that giving the vote to women was, and still is, a bad idea. (A Professor John R. Lott, Jr. has "proven" in 1999 that giving women the right to vote is what caused, and is still causing, the uncontrolled growth of government. Some men will just never stop at trying to deprive women of their rights as human beings.)

The history of women's right to vote in Denmark is particularly illuminating. They were given the right to vote in 1915. And they elected 9 women members to their parliament in 1918, three full years before American women were even granted the right to vote. So much for America being called the greatest nation on earth. American has always trailed the pack on freedom issues. And usually people have to be physically abused and even killed first.
